The faculty continues to actively engage non-local students to keep them informed about our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes while addressing their enquiries. To advance this goal, marketing and academic staff from the faculty took part in the China Education Expo (CEE) 2025 as members of the EdUHK delegation. Since its inception in 2000, the CEE has been an annual event organised by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CACIE) in Beijing, Shanghai and other major cities across the Chinese Mainland. This year, the multi-city event was held in Beijing, Wuhan, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shanghai from 31 October to 9 November 2025.

At the EdUHK exhibition booths across all five cities, FLASS staff joined fellow EdUHK delegates to distribute information booklets, programme handbooks and prospectuses, and to answer enquiries about enrolment. Our staff also delivered stage presentations at admission talks organised by Global Affairs Office in Beijing and Shanghai, offering detailed explanations of programme structures, tuition fees and entrance requirements.

At the admission talk held on 8 November during the CEE Shanghai exhibition, Dr Matthew Li Tin-lok from SES explains the programme design and admission requirements for the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Integrated Environmental Management and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Science) co-terminal degree programme.

Ms Dolores He Peiying from the faculty’s marketing team noted, “Among the subjects offered by FLASS, sports science, personal finance and geography attracted the most enquiries. Some prospective students even submitted application forms on-site at the booths. In addition to programme details, visitors were curious about practical matters such as interview formats, accommodation fees and campus facilities.”

Chinese mainland remains the world’s largest source market for students seeking overseas study opportunities. Exhibition halls in all five cities were filled with aspiring students and parents, accompanied by a wide range of promotional activities. “Hundreds of visitors came to the FLASS booths in each city. Our faculty and marketing staff also spoke at two admission talks in Beijing and one in Shanghai, where we provided detailed information about programme structures and admission requirements. Each talk drew around 100 attendees,” Ms He remarked.

The exhibition hall in Shanghai is filled with visitors eager to learn about studying abroad. Visitors read programme handbooks and prospectuses at the EdUHK exhibition booth.

One of FLASS speakers was Dr Paul Choi Tat-shing from the Department of Science and Environmental Studies (SES) who delivered admission talks in Beijing on 1 and 2 November. He said, “CEE is a leading platform for higher institutions worldwide to strengthen their presence in the Chinese Mainland market. By participating, we offer prospective students clear, comprehensive information about our programmes and support them in making informed decisions about undergraduate and postgraduate enrolment.”

Most enquiries centred on entrance requirements through the Joint Entrance Examination for Universities in Mainland China, although parents also asked about criteria for applicants using the International Baccalaureate (IB) and SAT.

FLASS values every opportunity to explain our undergraduate and master’s programmes and respond to enquiries in person. The Hong Kong SAR Government has launched the “Study in Hong Kong” campaign to promote the city as an international education hub. In support of this initiative and to facilitate non-local students wishing to study in Hong Kong, we will continue to participate in a range of recruitment activities to provide prospective students with the information and assistance they need throughout their application process.

Ms Dolores He Peiying and Ms Shine Zhao Jiazheng from the faculty’s marketing team were also part of the FLASS delegation.
